The Brief
It’s always a pleasure to be involved with forward thinking office designers and help build environments for people to work and create in, as well as relax. At QA’s call centre in Swindon, we helped to undertake a full office refit with the aim of better using space and creating open plan working, as well as an ‘outside in’ space around which to have coffee, lunch, or informal meetings.
Our Solution
We were able to complete a full site survey of the existing installation and identify the supplies, existing distribution and circuits. By spending a little bit more time in the planning and design stage, we were able to make the client the savings required to maximise opportunities in other areas. With the need for a large quantity of IT equipment, careful electrical design was needed to ensure that IT loads could be evenly balanced across the correct number of circuits.
Using an underfloor power track system – we were able to provide complete flexibility if the use of the office ever changes – floor boxes can simply be lifted up, unplugged, then relocated in new positions.
A new lighting scheme throughout was created, and with careful use of LED technology and presence detection, significant energy savings were achieved.
The ‘outside in’ area with full LED ‘sky and clouds’ feature, came together really well creating a homely relaxed feel – somewhat different to your average office kitchen.
